Gmail down, Twitter's post thousands of complaints

comments 0

Gmail users saw their accounts inaccessible Tuesday morning.

The Gmail service says it is experiencing a “502 server error,” which means that the server is experiencing congestion or has “too many connections, high traffic.”

The Gmail outage appears to be widespread. While searching the Blogosphere or Twitter, there are tons of complaints from people who are not able to log in to their Gmail accounts.

Helloluis observes on Tweeter: “Watching the #gmail complaints stream thru http://tinyurl.com/dbvtv9 A bit like watching a crowd around a car accident.”

A few minutes after Helloluis tweets: ”I don’t think I’ll ever get tired to seeing thousands of tweets on the same subject pouring in over the span of a few minutes. #gmail #fail.”

The official Gmail blog has still not posted up any reasons for why the email service is down.

Update 1: there’s a status box on the Gmail Help homepage that says the outage started at 1:30 AM PST, which means the problems have been occurring for nearly 2 hours and a half at the time of this update.
