Los Alamitos Mayor, Dean Grose to resign over controversy

No Easter egg hunt this year

Los Alamitos, California mayor Dean Grose announced he will resign over a controversy sparked by an email in which he superimposed an image of the White House lawn planted with watermelons, with the title "No Easter egg hunt this year."

The original email was sent out from Grose's personal account.

Thursday the Orange County Register received an email which Grose said he will resign at Monday's City Council meeting.

"The attention brought to this matter has sadly created an image of me which is most unfortunate. I recognize that I've made a mistake and have taken steps to make sure this is never repeated," Grose wrote.
