New thing to give up for Lent: Facebook
What some college
students giving up for Lent this year? Chocolate? Chips? Movies?
Many students are swearing off spending time on "social not-working" site, Facebook.
Facebook has become so popular that this year many adults are finding friends, chatting and logging on in numbers never seen before. As an act of giving up something as a Lenten sacrifice, more and more people are using it as their way of giving up something they love.
"It's hard! Yesterday, subconsciously I almost went to Facebook on my phone, so I think the first week is gonna be tough," Chike Akah, a college student, said according to MSNBC.
Lent is a 40-day liturgical season leading up to Easter where some Christians recognize the time Jesus spent resisting temptation from Satan, fasting and wandering the desert by giving up something important to them.
