Google Nexus One VS iPhone VS Droid VS Pre - Comparison Chart

comments 5

Following today's announcement by Google of its first smartphone, the Google Nexus One, consumers are already pondering this question: What's the difference between the Google Nexus One, the Apple iPhone, the Palm Pre and the Motorola Droid?

BillShrink has put together a very handy comparison chart that looks at each of these 4 smartphones and lists the differences in all key features.

There are a few obvious differences - the iPhone still lacks multitasking while the Android devices have fewer apps - but for the most part, the devices are fairly similar on paper.

Quantity does not equal quality... I will never understand why Americans are so completely hooked on the idea that "more is better"? It's really sad to me that the result of this nonsensical mindset is that both Palm and Android (Google) are simply trying to play the numbers game with Apple instead of figuring out some way to highlight the fact that both platforms, in all likelihood, have a proportional "quality" advantage over Apple, simply because of their smaller numbers....

And, for my money, I much prefer the idea of combing through 258 or 20000 to find the 10-25 apps I would *actually* use than almost 100000 -- the latter just being a waste of my valuable time!!

I don't feel the 'lack of multitasking' is a valid point. iPhone OS 3.1.2 can be easily jailbroken and Backgrounder can be installed (both free). The 3GS has the added RAM and upgraded processor that makes this a viable option (not that the 3G can't, it's just a bit slower).
