Day One Results
What a great day!  We started off with presenting in the practice round our presentation and our elevator pitch.  The key learning was to give more information in charts especially with our financial ratios.  We are back to drawing board tonight rewriting a few slides.  It is really nothing new as every competition is a learning experience.  Next was the trade show with a quick set up.  I actually thought this was a great idea as we get to present our company just like a real trade show.  There were some great booths with multiple banners and stands as well as video and candy.  I always wonder where these people find the time and then I remember that most of the competition is single and going to school full time.  I do miss my wife and kids but, knowing that this is a great experience.
On to the elevator pitches, it was intense.  Each team had one person present for 60 seconds.  It is so difficult to get all the relevant info. in that time.  It was also very stressful.  I felt so bad for a couple guys who forgot their lines.  One guy said,”it was a lot different than practicing in the mirror.”  The whole crowd went nuts in nervous laughter as they all felt for him.  Overall, there were some great pitches that were really professional.  University of Louisville took the top prize.  It’s getting late and we still need some more practice.
