Intel announced Moblin 2.1 for phones
Intel announced a new version of Moblin designed for phones, running on an Atom-based phone in Intel IDF 2009 Forum this morning.
According to Intel CEO Paul Otellini's instructions about Moblin, the interface has been redesigned for handheld usage, and there's a lot of widget-based social networking integration, as well as a panels-based navigation system that allows you to flip through multiple running applications.
There's no hard date on when this might ship, but it was demoed running on a MID -- which we'll be scoring the show floor trying to find just as soon as the keynote is over.
Paul Otellini introduced it in detail.

Stacked airplane seating concept terrifying
If you've travelled by plane in recent months then you'll likely have seen the crazy rush to stuff bags into overhead compartments as people desperately avoid checked-luggage fees. It could be worse, though; it could be you trying to fit into an overhead cubby. Some sadist designer has come up with a new way to stuff more passengers into each flight, using what basically amounts to stacked or bunk-bed seating.

AMD CPU and HD 4570 GPU packed into Clevo budget laptops
AMD are talking up their latest collaboration with manufacturer Clevo, packing the chipmakers' Athlon 64 X2 processor and ATI Radeon HD 4570 graphics into what's described as "an optimal price". While the targets of these new machines - unnamed by the AMD press release and seemingly yet to show up on Clevo's own site - are developing markets, we can't help but think that it's not just Brazil and Taiwan who would like "long battery life" and "exceptional video performance" with a budget price.
