Convert Any Unit

Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad

I have a confession to make. I love unit converter apps; perhaps even as much as I like calculator apps, so I'm always keen to try out new ones when given the chance.

Convert Any Unit is a sleek minimalistic app, sporting a brushed steel finish that's straightforward to use and has 24 categories of units, covering over 3600 different units.

Rescue City

This game provides something different to this genre of game that we have seen so many times before. Take Flight Control and Harbour Master for a few of many of this type. I love the nice sleek design this game has, and the fact that there is twists in the later levels (things such as express-ways, potholes and traffic.) The levels get increasingly harder as you go through the classic levels, providing a nice difficulty gradient, that isn't too harsh, but also keeps the game from getting boring. The arcade mode is nice, once you;ve played through the set missions available in classic, the arcade mode allows you to play to your hearts content and get the highest score possible on each level. It quickly gets hard, and provides a interesting challenge.

Acc Calculator

Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad

Carrying out a search for the word “calculator” on the App Store brings up 6601 results (for iPhone apps alone). It’s safe to say that the market is pretty crowded out there. So when we were asked to review Acc Calculator, I was wondering whether or not the app could make a big enough dent to get noticed.

Spooksfinder

Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad

Chances are you already know how you're going to honor paganism this Halloween weekend, but if you don't then Spooksfinder might be able to help! The idea here is to give you a birdseye view of all the Halloween festivities going down in your area, and if you're hosting something yourself then you can add it to the map.

Spooksfinder seems good at finding community events so it (probably) won't direct you to any sorority costume parties but who knows what you'll find out there.

Monster Munch ~ Halloween Feast

comments 0

Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad

If you've ever played Sky Burger (or any of the 10 million games that are similar) then Monster Munch will feel very familiar... stuff falls from the sky, and you control the game by tilting left and right. The difference is that you're not building any burgers... instead, you're catching pumpkins while you try to dodge skulls that take away your extra lives. You also want to avoid Holy Water 'cuz that will make your little Dracula character get big, and being big makes it harder to dodge the evil skulls that are raining from the sky.

Halloween!

Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad

If you're looking for an all-in-one Halloween app, this is it. Kind of. Halloween! comes equipped with a bunch of features including a countdown to October 31st, scary sounds, creepy sound loops, costume ideas, and Halloween trivia, to name a few. Halloween ringtones and wallpapers are also part of the set, but you have to fork over $.99 to get them.

Zombie Life

comments 1

Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad

Zombie Life is one of those cute, cartoony, Sims-like games where your purpose is to live vicariously through your title character which, in this case, happens to be a zombie. Keep your zombie happy, free of decay, gainfully employed, and complete the "quests" that gradually become available, and you'll get to unlock new occupations and wardrobes and whatnot that will make your little undead pal's life that much more exciting.

This is a really well done game that proves The PlayForge has some top-level talent on their payroll, but in all honesty games like this bore me to tears! Is it because I'm almost 40 and this genre seems mostly aimed at gum-snapping teenagers? Yeah, probably.

Tappie Games

This review was submitted by PMC

So Tappie Games is supposed to be geared for 1+ year olds and to improve finger movement skills and coordination. I let my 1.5 year old play it so this feedback is all based upon one child, one very cute and super intelligent child, who will probably be a pro athlete someday. Anyway...

Kakao Talk Messenger

comments 0

So why has an entire country taken such a shine to this app? Probably because it allows you to chat (read: SMS) with anyone, anywhere in the world as long as they have Kakao on their iPhone, Android, or Blackberry, and it does all that for free. Oh yeah, and Korean society is also sort of a hive mind, like the Borg in Star Trek... but I digress.

So like I was saying, if you and the people you text regularly all start using Kakao, you can probably stop paying your wireless carrier for whatever SMS package they suckered you into buying, and if you have friends or family living overseas then this app becomes a must-have.
