Bobby Brown seemed to be in good spirits Sunday night during a surprise performance at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California. Bobby’s impromptu performance marked his first time on stage since his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown died at the age of 22 on July 26.

In a video posted by TMZ, the former New Edition singer shocked fans when he stepped out on stage to help Macy Gray perform their 2010 song “Real Love.” Brown kissed Gray on the cheek, and tipped his hat to the crowd before saying: “Thank you all for your prayers, everybody.” The last time Bobby was seen performing on stage was during the Fourth of July holiday, a few weeks before Bobbi Kristina’s death. At the time, the singer was the opening act for Mint Condition’s Affordable Old School Concert Series at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater in Atlanta, Georgia. Unlike Bobby’s show on Sunday, the singer seemed distracted at the Mint Condition concert and kept forgetting the lyrics to his songs. Several times he apologized to the audience, telling them he was “in a different zone.”

As previously reported, Bobbi Kristina died almost one month ago after being hospitalized on Jan. 31 after being found unresponsive in a bathtub in her home. Bobbi Kristina, who was the only daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, was buried next to her mother on Aug. 3 at Fairview Cemetery in New Jersey. Her funeral was held at the St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. Just one week after Bobbi Kristina’s funeral, her father was seen chatting with fans outside Ha Ha Café Comedy Club in Los Angeles.

Despite his jovial appearance, a family friend told the Daily Mail the 46-year-old has been having a hard time dealing with his daughter’s passing, and felt partly responsible for her death. “He told me he should have insisted Krissy get help for her drug addiction and he should have forced Nick Gordon to move out of her townhouse and leave her alone -- legally, if necessary,” the friend told the Daily Mail.
