House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner said on Thursday that the House will pass a short-term spending bill that would postpone a government shutdown for a week and send it to the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Democrats have said they will not pass that measure and President Barack Obama has threatened to veto it. Boehner said Democrats have not said which policy protections they do not like in the bill.
