The New York Drama Critic's Circle named the winners; Good People by David Lindsay-Abaire as the best play of the season, Jerisalem by Jez Butterworth as the best foreign play, and The Book of Mormon as the best musical.

Special citations were handed out to the Broadway revival of The Normal Heart, Mark Rylance for La Bete or Jerusalem, and the direction, design and puppetry of War Horse.

While the vote for the Best Play dragged till the fourth ballot, in voting for Best Musical, the majority was won by The Book of Mormon, with 17 out of 24. The Book of Mormon, featuring music and lyrics by South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Avenue Q's Robert Lopez, is a religious musical comedy of young Mormon missionaries in Uganda.

The Circle consists of drama critics from the New York metropolitan area's media sources. The awards will be presented at Angus Mclndoe Restaurant on May 16.
