A shooting incident rocked a small town near Akron, Ohio, after a family argument Sunday morning resulted in a man gunning down seven people, killing an 11-year-old boy.

The incident occured in Copley, about 40 miles from Cleveland, when an unidentified gunman went on a rampage during an argument at a residence. The gunman first shot his girlfriend and then gunned down her brother and four others, reports said.

The gunman later searched for other victims who had escaped and gunned down two more. The gunman was killed after an exchange of gunfire with a current and a former Copley police officer. Eight people in all -- including the gunman -- are dead, authorities said.

A prayer vigil led by Rev. Jeff Bogue of the Grace Church of Greater Akron for the victims was held on Sunday.
