Sherwood Schwartz, the master mind behind wacky television shows “Gilligan’s Island” and “The Brady Bunch” has died on Tuesday in Los Angeles at the age of 94.

Schwartz wrote and produced both the shows and was responsible for the success of many actors who appeared on his shows. Schwartz also co-wrote the sea shanty, The Ballad of Gilligan's Island.

Both shows are pervasive, Schwartz told the Los Angeles Times in 1992. They have left the land of television and become part of Americana.

He had a lot of favorite projects and a lot of favorite shows and his favorite one was always the next one, his son and producing partner, Lloyd J. Schwartz, told TheWrap. He didn't really die. He just ran out of time to do things.

Schwartz, a veteran comedy writer wrote for legends Bob Hope and Red Skelton.

Schwartz was born in Passaic, New Jersey, in 1916. He studied pre-med at New York University before writing for The Bob Hope Radio Show in 1939 with his brother, Al, Reuters reported.

Schwartz has worked on more than 700 shows, by his own count which includes I Married Joan, The Red Skelton Show, and My Favorite Martian.

Schwartz created Gilligan's Island, in 1963 and The Brady Bunch, in 1969.

Schwartz in 2008 received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also joined the Television Academy Hall of Fame in the same year.

Schwartz got married to Mildred and has four children, including Lloyd, and another son, Ross Schwartz, who wrote the independent film Bottle Shock.
