After 72 days of married life, TMZ is reporting that Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kris Humphries this morning in California.

In a TMZ exclusive, Kardashian supposedly cited irreconcilable differences.

TMZ reports that the date of separation has been listed for Oct. 31, 2011.

Ryan Seacrest confirmed the split, tweeting Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins.

Irreconcilable difference is a standard Hollywood divorce excuse.

TMZ states that one of the main points of contention was where the couple would choose to settle down.

Humphries, who is from Minnesota, wanted to move back to the Midwest. Kardashian wanted to stay in L.A. to be close to her family.

Apparently they figured they would smooth all of this out after the $10 million wedding. Obviously things did not go as planned.

TMZ says that Kardashian has hired attorney Laura Wasser, who has represented the likes of Britney Spears, Maria Shriver, Angelina Jolie, and Ryan Reynolds.

Kim Kardashian, dressed as a sexy red-headed Poison Ivy, spent this Halloween alone. She hosted a party for the holiday and hubby Humphries was noticeably absent.

Rumors of a split have been swirling lately, as Humphries was reportedly seen cavorting with other women at clubs in Miami and New York while Kardashian was working.

One woman even tweeted: Just danced in Kris Humphries lap... SORRY KIM. Best night of my life.

Publications ranging from the New York Post to Star magazine have been reporting about the upcoming split for weeks.

The New York Post had reported sightings of Humphries leaving their New York City home at the Gansevoort Hotel carrying boxes and not wearing his wedding ring.

Life & Style magazine published a quote from an inside producer of the Kourtney & Kim Take New York show who said, Kim's mapping out 2012, including holidays, and Kris isn't a part of it. Any itineraries for the future don't include Kris very much.

Kim recently celebrated her 31st birthday at Marquee in Las Vegas on Oct. 22 and the couple was described as inseparable.

Kardashian and Humphries vehemently denied allegations of a split.

Though, the reality star did cite problems with their current living situation, describing it as not ideal.

We have to find our home base, the curvaceous beauty told People. Just imagine we were in this three-bedroom suite with my sister, her boyfriend, the baby, and every morning the baby is playing outside our door and wakes us up early.

Apparently, things have changed over the course of this week.

The couple married in August in a lavish, highly-publicized ceremony in California.

TMZ reported that Kardashian got $1.5 million for the wedding photos alone.

The celebrity website also noted that, if the wedding cost as much as $10 million and if the couple separates on Oct. 31, it equates to a total of $138,888 per day thus far.

Of course Kardashian, who is worth an estimated $35 million, has an air-tight prenuptual agreement.

Reports recently surfaced that Humphries was not Kardashian's first choice for a husband. The Huffington Post reported on a story by Wetpaint Entertainment that Kardashian initially wanted to cast New York Knicks small forward Danilo Gallinari as her beau.

Dating a New York athlete was supposed to boost the ratings for her show Kourtney & Kim Take New York but Gallinari declined the offer.

Afterwards, Humphries, of the New Jersey (soon to be Brooklyn) Nets was chosen.

This story is developing. More details will be reported as they arise.
