What we have been awaiting was a confirmation of a report that said Brenda Song was pregnant with Trace Cyrus' baby. But what we have received is a confirmation that the couple has gotten engaged.
Song, the 23-year old Disney star, had sparked speculation about the couple's marital status by flashing what appeared to be an engagement ring only hours before the 22-year-old Cyrus announced their engagement on Twitter: I am very excited to say, last week I asked my girlfriend Brenda Song to marry me and she said YES! We are both very excited to be engaged!
However, Song's Twitter account did not say a word about engagement or about the strongly speculated pregnancy. But Cyrus' sister Miley Cyrus appeared thrilled and tweeted: @TraceCyrus can't wait for Brenda to be a Cyrus :) couldn't be more excited about my 'sister in law to be' yay :).
A wedding date is yet to be announced.
An unnamed source close to the couple had confirmed to E!News in August that Brenda was pregnant, which was contradicted by her mother last month. She said her daughter was actually not pregnant.
However, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody star has recently been maintaining a low profile and been spotted in baggy clothes whenever she ventured out in public.
Song's pregnancy news was not well received by fans who expressed disappointment about Cyrus, who is best known as the lead singer of the band Metro Station. However, he now performs as a solo artist under the name Ashland High. He has been previously linked with other Disney stars, including Demi Lovato.
The couple made their first public appearance in May on the red carpet during a Nylon event. Song has also modeled for Cyrus' clothing line, Southern Made Hollywood Paid.
