Musician Sam Smith is the face of Balenciaga autumn/winter 2015 men’s collection. The French fashion house unveiled the striking campaign, which also includes a black-and-white video of the British singer. The 23-year-old singer shows off his high fashion credentials in the photographs.

Photographed by Josh Olins, Smith models tailored jackets and trousers paired with crisp white shirts from Alexander Wang’s latest designs. There was frenzy on social media frenzy when Smith revealed that he had landed the gig, posting a photo from the campaign on Instagram. “Ladies and gentlemen. The time has come for my first ever collaboration with a fashion house. You ready?” he captioned the video.

The brooding grayscale images show Smith posing in a cell-like concrete room with his hands placed on a glass pane. Another photograph shows him from backside, looking into a mirror, where his face is reflected. In the third picture, Smith is seen sitting beside a marble table with a crystal perched atop, his head resting in his hand.

The Balenciaga campaign is the first time the singer has appeared in a major fashion campaign, Hello reported. Creative director Wang said in a statement that Smith conveyed a quiet elegance and a subtle sensuality that were perfect for Balenciaga. According to the designer, the singer’s sensitivity and power are the focus of the Balenciaga man.

The musician jumped on board due to his adoration of the label. He hoped that it would continue further than the campaign. This is not Smith’s first brush with fashion; he appeared in the April issue of Vogue’s "Today I’m Wearing" section, sharing his outfit choices every day for a month. He was also pictured backstage at the Burberry show in February.

Smith has floored his fans with his incredible weight loss. The star has been keeping busy since the last few months and kicked off his new diet. He dropped a stone (14 pounds) in just two weeks, attributing his success to nutritional therapist Amelia Freer and her book “Eat. Nourish. Glow."
