Britney Spears began her highly touted two-year residency at Planet Hollywood Resorts & Casino on Friday.

The Grammy-winning singer marked the beginning of her gig and the debut of her new show “Britney: Piece of Me” at the fully reconstructed AXIS Theater. According to reports, the event had a sold-out audience that included Maria Lopez, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and DJ Pauly D among the others.

The larger-than-life performer poured on the cheese during her performance along with some rapid-fire dance moves.

The dazzling concert was a compilation of more than 23 of Britney’s biggest hits in just 90-minutes, including “Oops! ... I Did It Again,” “Toxic,” “I’m a Slave 4 U” and many others.

“Britney: Piece of Me” is one of the most spectacular concert experiences ever produced for Las Vegas. According to reports, the concert featured a 4-piece band, 14 dancers, seven costume changes and a host of dazzling technological feats.

Baz Halpin, one of the most well-renowned creative directors for live stage entertainment is said to have directed the concert, along with a creative team that included assistant director Melissa Garcia, multimedia designer GEODEZIK, choreographers the Squared Division and costume designer Marco Marco.

The AXIS Theater is one of a kind in Las Vegas, famous for its innovative dance floor and exclusive table and bottle service that are provided by Drai’s Management Group, making the theater part nightclub and Part theater. The newly renovated AXIS Theater also has one of the largest indoor video and projection installations in the world.

According to reports, Britney Spears will perform 50 shows each in 2014 and 2015. If the show is successful Planet Hollywood Resorts & Casino may extend the gig.
