The brush fire that burned over 1350 acres and forced residents to evacuate is now 40% contained, according to reports Saturday morning. The Lake Isabella area is a recreational site some 110 miles north of Los Angeles.

The blaze started Friday afternoon north of Highway 178 and spread rapidly, compelling some 400 residents to evacuate. Aoubt 250 firefighters were on scene to contain the fire, which finally came under control after winds calmed and temperatures cooled.

No injuries have been reported, and CHP continues to direct traffic in the area.
