Michael Weatherly-fronted freshman CBS drama “Bull” will most probably be renewed for Season 2. The network has just hired Glenn Gordon Caron to be the showrunner and executive producer of the show if it is renewed for a second season.

According to a report by Deadline, Caron will take over the showrunning duties from Mark Goffman, who is the showrunner and executive producer of Season 1 of “Bull.” In fact, CBS has ensured that Caron joins the series immediately as a consultant for the rest of the first season. Although the network has yet to official renew the show, the fact that it is getting a new showrunner for its sophomore season and its strong ratings suggest that a Season 2 renewal is highly likely.

The latest aired episode of “Bull” drew an impressive 10.3 million total viewers, according to TVLine. These numbers are particularly impressive considering that Season 1 was up against NBC’s highly successfully freshman drama “This Is Us.”

Additionally, “Bull” has been ranked as the number 1 new series and number 3 new scripted series overall in terms of viewers.

Moreover, Caron is known to create and produce many popular TV shows including ABC’s “Moonlighting,” NBC’s “Medium” and FX’s “Tyrant.”

“Bull” tells the story of a brash, charming and handsome jury consultant, Dr. Jason Bull (Weatherly). He runs his own high-priced consulting agency that uses a combination of psychology, human intuition and high tech data to figure out what makes jurors, attorneys, witnesses and the accused tick.

Weatherly, who enjoyed a long run on procedural “NCIS,” left the series in its thirteenth season to star in “Bull.” The new series airs right after “NCIS.”

News of a renewal of this TV show is expected sometime soon.

“Bull” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
