The Canadian dollar appreciated vis-à-vis the U.S. dollar today as the greenback tested bids around the C$ 0.9865 level and was capped around the C$ 0.9930 level. Traders went long C$ on news that a group of Canadian pension funds and other financial institutions reached an agreement to restructure C$ 32 billion in commercial paper that was in suspense since this summer’s credit market turmoil. U.S. dollar offers are cited around the C$ 0.9960 level.
