Caitlyn Jenner could face up to a year in prison for her role in a fatal auto accident Feb. 7 on California's Pacific Coast Highway. A six-month investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has determined the 65-year-old reality star violated the state's vehicular manslaughter law.

During their investigation, authorities reviewed video footage from a passenger bus, as well as paparazzi photographs. The evidence will be presented to prosecutors next week to determine if Jenner was responsible for the death of Kim Howe, the Los Angeles Times reported. Howe, 69, was killed when Jenner's SUV rear-ended the vehicle in which Howe was traveling, authorities said.

A 161-page report on the crash reveals that Jenner was traveling at an “unsafe speed” and therefore “set off a chain of events” resulting in a fatality, TMZ reported. The district attorney will determine if Jenner will be charged with misdemeanor manslaughter. Detective Richard Curry of the Sheriff’s Department told Variety there is a “50/50 chance that she will be charged.”

Jenner, who was known as Bruce Jenner at the time, released a statement following the multivehicle accident.

“My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident,” Jenner said at the time, via publicist Alan Nierob. “It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”
