A California man whose penis was cut off by his estranged wife has survived emergency surgery, and is in good condition. There is no word on whether or not there was any attempt to re-attach his organ, which his wife put in the garbage disposal after cutting it off.

In a crime that echoes the infamous Lorena Bobbitt case, Catherine Kieu Becker, 48, was arrested on Monday night after allegedly drugging her husband and cutting off his penis.

Becker put something in her 51-year old husband's food that would knock him out, waited for him to fall asleep, and went to town.

The man, who remains unidentified, told police he laid down in bed after dinner, believing that he had eaten something tainted. He later woke up to find his wife tugging at his clothes, but he did not act fast enough to stop her from slicing off his member.

Police say there is no clear motive in the case, although the Garden Grove couple are apparenty going through a divorce.

After Becker was taken into custody, she told police that her husband deserved it.

Becker is facing charges of aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, administering a drug with intent to commit a felony, poisoning and spousal abuse.

In 1993, Lorena Bobbitt severed the penis of her husband John Wayne Bobbitt, claiming that he raped her after coming home drunk. John was acquitted of rape charges and his penis was re-attached succesfully. Lorena Bobbitt was found not guilty by reason insanity. The couple divorced in 1995.

Becker is being held on $1 million bail.
