Sacramento police arrested a mother Tuesday, on charges of killing her own 6-week-old girl by cooking her in a microwave.

Ka Yang, 29, was taken into custody three months after Mirabelle Thao-Lo, her baby, was found dead at the family's residence on March 17, said Sacramento Police spokesman Sgt. Norm Leong.

According to Leong, it took a long time to figure out that Mirabelle's burns did indeed come from a microwave. Investigators used medical analysis and findings from three other U.S. cases, Reuters reported.

Police said the thermal injuries on the baby's body were similar to the documents in cases from Dayton, Ohio; New Kent County, Virginia, and Galveston, Texas.

Yang's other three boys, who are under the age of 7, have been removed from her home by Child welfare workers.

It has not been found so far what made Yang to allegedly bake her baby in the microwave, Sacramento police said.

Yang, charged with homicide, was held without a bail in Sacramento County jail.
