A California woman claimed she was verbally and physically attacked by five people at a fast food restaurant for being a lesbian.

Sabrina Hooks, who lives in Inglewood, Los Angeles, was enjoying a meal at a Jack in the Box outlet at Imperial Highway and Figueroa Street on Oct. 29 with her girlfriend, when a group of five men and women walked in and started insulting them.

"They said, you know, I'm a dike and I'm gay and I had to keep my 'hoe in check' and just for no reason," Hook told ABC affiliate Eye Witness News. They also insulted her girlfriend, identified as Morgan, using vulgar offensives.

It was at this moment that the attack escalated and turned into a physical assault. The pushing and shoving quickly turned into a free-for-all that landed Hooks in the hospital with her front teeth knocked out and permanent damage to her left eye.

"Looking at her makes me want to cry every single time I look at her. To just assume that two guys can seriously put their hands on a female, it's shocking," Morgan said.

Morgan also stated that no one from the restaurant came forward to help them and that she had to drive Hooks to the hospital on her own.

“I wish we lived in a world where things weren't like this,” Morgan told Fox 11.

Hooks said that the incident was nothing short of experiencing a real-life horror movie. “It was like a horror movie, except I wasn't watching it...I was in it,” she said. “It's not even about my sexuality, it's about human decency.”

Hooks had come out as an openly gay woman in her high school and never had to face any major backlash like the hate crime she was subjected to the day before Halloween.

Today, she is scared of even stepping outside the comforts of her house.

“For it to get violent and, like I said, no one helped, that's just what really stunned me and it still hurts. It makes me fear just to walk down the street,” Hooks said.

Although no arrests have been made, the Los Angeles Police Department has had quite a bit of help when it comes to identifying the perpetrators.

Both Hooks and Morgan provided the police with a fairly accurate description of the attackers. In addition to that, CCTV cameras both inside and outside the fast food facility captured the assault.

Hooks said that she wants the perpetrators caught to prevent others from going through the same experience that she did. “Just a little justice would be nice," she said. "Just so the next person doesn't have to worry like I do.”

A Go Fund Me page was set up for Hooks on Nov. 9, and which has already raised $753 of its goal of $5,000.

“As you can imagine the unplanned medical bills and need for some dental work have exhausted all of her funds. But this campaign is more than funds for new teeth, eyeglasses and medical bills its also about a need for prayer and positive vibes sent her way for her mental health,” the page says.
