“Call of Duty” is one of the most popular first-person and third-person shooter franchises in the world. Though the original PC title launched on Oct. 29, 2003, the series has since moved on to a number of platforms, including the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360, the Xbox One and the Nintendo Wii.

The first of the series was developed by Los Angeles-based developer Infinity Ward and published by Activision. Since its release date more than a decade ago, 10 main installments in the series have launched, with more than 10 other handheld and console titles, including “Call of Duty: Black Ops DS” and “Call of Duty: Zombies” for the iPhone.

According to Statistic Brain, the franchise has sold approximately 139.6 million units in total, and that has yet to include “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare,” which is set to hit shelves this fall.

“Call of Duty” trailers are often just as epic as the games are. Activision frequently features celebrities and well-known gamers in their ads, which often garner millions of views on platforms like YouTube. Let’s take a look back at some of the best “Call of Duty” trailers.

“Call of Duty: Ghosts” trailer, 2013

The trailer features a group of friends heading to Las Vegas and battling it out in Sin City. The video also features the stunning Megan Fox, who has admitted she’s actually a fan of video games.

“Call of Duty:  Modern Warfare 2” trailer, 2009

The 2009 trailer featured Eminem’s “Till I Collapse” amid plenty of gunfire, explosions and snowmobiling.

“Call of Duty: Ghosts” DLC Trailer “Onslaught,” 2014

OK, this one’s kind of cheating, since it’s the trailer for downloadable content. But it’s still pretty awesome that users can play fictional serial killer Michael Myers.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” trailer, 2012

How can you not love a “Call of Duty” trailer that features Iron Man? Actor Robert Downey Jr. and YouTuber FPSRussia are just two of the many well-known stars in this ad, which also features Internet celebrity iJustine.

“Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare,” 2014

Last week, Sledgehammer Games revealed the upcoming “Advanced Warfare” trailer, which will launch Nov. 4 and featured “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey. Spacey will play the role of Jonathan Irons, one of the most powerful men in the world. Spacey’s menacing tone, as well as his in-game likeness, look perfect for the upcoming title.
