“Call of Duty” is one of the most popular first-person and third-person shooter franchises in the world. Though the original PC title launched on Oct. 29, 2003, the series has since moved on to a number of platforms, including the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360, the Xbox One and the Nintendo Wii.

The first of the series was developed by Los Angeles-based developer Infinity Ward and published by Activision. Since its release date more than a decade ago, 10 main installments in the series have launched, with more than 10 other handheld and console titles, including “Call of Duty: Black Ops DS” and “Call of Duty: Zombies” for the iPhone.

According to Statistic Brain, the franchise has sold approximately 139.6 million units in total, and that has yet to include “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare,” which is set to hit shelves this fall.

“Call of Duty” trailers are often just as epic as the games are. Activision frequently features celebrities and well-known gamers in their ads, which often garner millions of views on platforms like YouTube. Let’s take a look back at some of the best “Call of Duty” trailers.
