Cameron Diaz opened up Monday about her decision to wait until she turned 41 to tie the knot. Diaz, who married Good Charlotte band member Benji Madden in 2015, revealed Tuesday that she was initially in no rush to settle down and get married.

"I think it's a matter of I just hadn't met my husband, you know?" Diaz told Entertainment Tonight. "I had boyfriends before. And there's a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends. And I have a husband who is just my partner in life and in everything."

According to the "Bad Teacher" star, Madden opened up her eyes to discover the power that can come from a strong partnership. Diaz believes that he treats her as an "equal."

"We women are objectified so much," she explained. "Somehow my husband has just been able to show me what it's like not to have that be a part of a relationship, and being an equal."

In 2016, Diaz told Us Weekly that marriage has "opened me up in different ways."

"It's pretty awesome," she continued. "I didn't think it was something I'd do, and I don't know if I'd have done it if I hadn't met my husband. It was a surprise."

Although "The Other Woman" star eventually walked down the aisle, she's not the only celebrity to get married later in life. International Business Times rounded up a list of five other celebrities that had waited to say I do.

GEORGE CLOONEY

It would be in bad taste to not start our list off by mentioning one of Hollywood's most famed bachelors, George Clooney.

While the "Up In The Air" star may have been married to actress Talia Balsam between 1989 to 1993, Clooney hadn't decided to properly settle down again until after meeting and then dating Amal Clooney in 2015.

"I would just like to say to my bride-to-be, Amal, that I love you very much," Clooney said at his wedding, according to People. "I can't wait to be your husband."

At the time of Clooney's wedding in September 2016, the actor was 53 years old. The pair recently gave birth to twins in a London hospital.

JENNIFER ANISTON

While the "Office Christmas Party" star may have had a very public five-year marriage and then divorce from fellow A-lister Brad Pitt, she eventually found love again with Justin Theroux.

"Marriage makes the small things much smaller and the big things small," Theroux said of marriage to Anniston, according to Us Weekly. "You have an ally. It’s good to have someone have your back."

In a 2016 interview with Harper's Bazar, Aniston also revealed her thoughts on what it's like to be married to the "funniest person."

"I'm lucky because Justin is the funniest person I've met," Aniston said about Theroux. "Laughter is one of the great keys to staying youthful."

At the time of their marriage, Aniston was 46 years old.

ELLEN DEGENERES

In August 2008, DeGeneres wed "Arrested Development" star Portia de Rossi. The pair had been an item since 2004.

"Portia and I constantly say to each other, 'We are so lucky.' Sometimes it’s lying in bed at night before I go to sleep, and I just say thank you to whatever, whoever is out there," she told People in 2016. "I've gotten to a place where I really am just settled. Really. I know that I’m not going anywhere. She's not going anywhere. I'm not saying the relationship took a while; I’m saying in my life, it took a while to find this."

At the time she tied the knot, DeGeneres was 50 years old.

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS

After 10 years together, Harris found his happily ever after with David Burtka in September 2014. Leading up to the "How I Met Your Mother" star's wedding, the couple had two kids together.

"Thirteen years and one day ago, I crossed paths with the guy on the left," Harris said in an Instagram post celebrating their 13 year anniversary. "The adventures have never ceased. The love has never waned. The gifts are never ending."

Harris was 41 years old when he finally spoke the words "I do."

ELTON JOHN

After John had spent more than two decades with longtime love David Furnish, the couple tied the knot in 2014.

"He was very well dressed, very shy," John said of Furnish, according to People. "The next night we had dinner. After it, we consummated our relationship. We fell in love very quickly."

The "Tiny Dancer" singer didn't settle down with Furnish until he was 66 years old.
