Canada released the consumer price index for the month of April, where CPI increased by 0.3% following the prior reported flat estimate and above median estimates of 0.2%, while compared with a year earlier, CPI increased by 1.8% above median estimates of 1.7% and the prior rise of 1.4%.

Core CPI increased in April by 0.3% following the prior reported drop of -0.2% and above median estimates of 0.2%, while compared with a year earlier, core CPI increased by 1.9% above median estimates and the prior estimate of 1.8% and 1.7% respectively.
