Canada released today the consumer price index for the month of January, where CPI rose by 0.3%, compared with the prior flat estimate and in line with median estimates, while compared with a year earlier, CPI rose by 2.3%, following the prior reported rise of 2.4% and below estimates.

Core CPI, which excludes prices of food and energy, came in flat in January, compared with the prior reported drop of 0.3% and below median estimates of 0.1%, while compared with a year earlier, core CPI rose by 1.4% , below the prior and expected rise of 1.5%.
