FXstret.com (Barcelona) - Canadian retail sales have grown in January returning to the rapid growth of the beginning of 2004. January has been the third consecutive month of strong gains, according of the Statistics Canada's last inform.

Retails sales in Canada have posted 1,5% increase in January from 0,6% increase of december. January was the biggest gain in the last 8 month, consensus was 1.4%. Retail sales, excluding automotive sector, have grown 1.3% in January, more than expected of 0,5% increase. In december, Retail sales decreased 0.4%.

Building and outdoor home supplies sector climbed 3.2% in january, food and beverage store have posted 0.9% increase and furniture, home furnishings and electronics stores gain 2.5%.

In the whole 2007, total retail sales jumped 7.5% over 2006, excluding automotive sector, retail sales have increased 7.7% in january.
