FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Canadian housing prices index has increased in December, for its first time in 16 months, according to National Statistics, which justifies the increase with the strength of the housing market in the Prairie provinces.

Housing prices have grown 6.2% in December from the same month last year, somewhat above the 6.1% increase posted on the previous month. On the month, housing prices have increased 0,1%. The housing price index is now at 156.7, up from 100 in 1997.
