FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Starts of new houses has decreased drastically in Canada during the month of October, although the Canadian House and Mortgage Corporation blames the outstanding good reading of September for October's decrease, more than an actual weakness of the sector during the month of October.

Housing starts have fallen 22% on the month to an annual rate of 219,000 from the 281,200 annual rate posted in September, upwardly revised from the 278,200 annual rate previously released.

By categories, urban starts have decreased 24.9% to 183,600 in October, while urban singles decreased 6.0% to 84,900 units, multiple starts decreased 36.0 per cent to 98,700 units.
