FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Canadian manufacturing sector's sales have decreased in August, after having posted a good increase on the previous month, weighed by a weak performance of the automotive industry, according to data by Statscan.

Manufactring sales have decreased 1.7% after a 1.3% increase in July, Sales of goods manufactured decreased to $51.2 billion from $52.1 billion a month earlier.

Weak sales in the automotive industry have influenced negatively the monthly performance, excluding cars, sales have increased 0.2%. Sales of durable goods decreased 2.8% in August, the fourth decrease of the last five months, non durable goods sales fell 0.4%.
