FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Employment has continued growing in Canada in May, although at a milder pace than in the two previous months, while the unemployment rate has remained unchanged, according to data by Statistics Canada.

In May, the unemployment rate has remained unchanged at 6.1%, while the net jobs increase was 8,400, considerably below the 19,200 and the 14,600 increases posted in April and March respectively. In the last 12 months employment in Canada has increased by 339,000 persons, or 2.0%.

The participation rate has remained at 68%, its record high, while the total of hours worked declined by 0.6%. Total hours worked rose 0.9% in the last twelve months. The average hourly wage increased 4.8% year on year.
