Japan Faces Grim Search and Rescue Missions (PHOTOS)

Japan's soldiers have been assigned the grim task of searching for victims and survivors of Friday's 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami.

In the days after the tragedy, they combed northeastern coastal towns and cities. They face vast expanses of wreckage and debris.

Rescuers found less survivors five days since the quake struck, with the number of bodies recovered increasing.

Among the images being taken were signs of a life gone by. One rescue worker was seen leafing through a family photo album.

Miyagi prefecture has been among the hardest hit. The prefecture includes Sendai, a city of over 1 million people, which was a focus of attention in the immediate aftermath of the quake as airborne cameras captured widespread flooding which swept away cars, boats, light aircraft, homes and small buildings.

The scene was equally devastating in other cities in the prefecture such as Kesennuma City, about 60 miles north. Higashimatsushima, about 20 miles north had similar scenes.

In the adjacent prefecture just north, Rikuzentakata and the fishing town Otsuchi reflected many of the same scenes. Some survivors in Otsuchi were seen looking through long lists of names at a collective center for evacuees.

Meanwhile American troops gave some aid to search and rescue missions, with helicopter flights over Sendai.

Market & Research Corp. (MTRE.OB) Signs Investment Banking Agreement

Market & Research Corp.’s President, Gary Stein, announced today that the company has signed a definitive agreement designating a nationally recognized Investment Bank to become the Investment Banker to finance Market & Research’s previously announced acquisitions.

New Fire found at Fukushima Daiichi Reactor 4

A new fire was found at the Fukushima Daiichi Reactor 4 on Wednesday morning in Japan (Tuesday night in New York time), reported CNN.

The fire, the second in two days, occurred at the northeastern corner of the Reactor 4 building.

Information on the effect of it on radiation levels is not yet available.  The first fire did not elevate radiation levels for a sustained period of time.

The first explosion at Reactor 4 created two big holes in the container that holds the nuclear fuel rods. The fuel storage area then ignited into flames, resulting the direct release of radioactive materials into the atmosphere.

Reportedly, much of the leaked radiation came in the form of steam from boiling water, which is not as dangerous as if it were emitted by the fuel rods directly.

Energtek, Inc. (EGTK.PK) Anticipates Growing Profits In India

Energtek, Inc., leading developer of the revolutionary ANG (Adsorbed Natural Gas) process for the containment and transportation of natural gas, is expecting its Indian subsidiary, Moregastech India Private Limited, to report its first revenues during the final quarter of 2009. Some see it as just the first move into a profitable future for the company, based upon a huge anticipated demand for its proprietary technology.

The subsidiary is working closely with an Indian entity to augment the country’s pipeline infrastructure through the use of Energtek’s ANG system, which allows gas from the pipeline to be transported to industrial and commercial sites using low pressure bulk transportation. As a result, areas not served by pipelines can now enjoy the reduced cost and low pollution qualities of natural gas, without the expense of transporting high pressure compressed natural gas.

Conservative estimates of revenues for just these initial Indian projects go from $5 million in 2010 to approximately $20 million in 2012, with continued increases thereafter. Multi-year agreements are expected with consumer clients, primarily in North-Central India. In addition, there are many more customers that are out of reach of India’s current gas pipeline network, providing additional opportunity for Energtek’s mobile bulk transportation.

Lev Zaidenberg, Energtek CEO, commented on the effort behind the company’s progress in India. “We have been working in India for a long time to create the conditions that will enable our subsidiary to generate significant revenues. We expect these efforts to start yielding results in the near future, following the final approval of our technology by Indian authorities. This initial project represents a major step for LMP(TM) technology, and will provide a model that is possible to replicate in larger scale throughout many additional regions in India.”
