Her father may have been the keynote speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention, but 3-year-old Carina Victoria Castro is almost overshadowing San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro in media attention.

Carina was thrust into the spotlight with her hair flip and eye roll as her father addressed the crowd Tuesday night at the 2012 DNC in Charlotte, N.C.

The cameras turned to the adorable 3-year-old when her father spoke about dropping her off on her first day of pre-kindergarten.

"I found myself whispering to her, as was once whispered to me, 'Que dios te bendiga.' 'May God bless you,'" the San Antonio mayor said during his rousing convention speech.

As if she sensed her moment, Carina proceeded to flip her hair and roll her eyes when television cameras focused on her.

Julian Castro, unaware of the reaction to his 3-year-old, continued with his speech.

"She's still young, and her dreams are far off yet, but I hope she'll reach them," he said. "As a dad, I'm going to do my part, and I know she'll do hers. But our responsibility as a nation is to come together and do our part, as one community, one United States of America, to ensure opportunity for all of our children."

In an interview afterward with the Associated Press, Julian Castro said he was bewildered by the crowd's reaction, noting that his speech did not have a zinger when they started laughing.

"Everyone started laughing and I was like, 'What? You are not supposed to laugh at this part,'" Castro told the AP.

Carina's hair flip was the talk of the Internet Wednesday, with popular website Buzzfeed created a GIF out of the maneuver.
