Controversial pageant queen Carrie Prejean is being stripped of her California 2009 title, not because of her racy photos or personal beliefs, but due to breach of contract, according to a statement from the Miss California USA organization.

This was a decision based solely on contract violation's including Ms. Prejean's unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization, said a statement from Keith Lewis, executive director of K2 Productions, which produces the pageant.

After our press conference in New York, we had hoped we would be able to forge a better working relationship. However, since that time it has become abundantly clear that Carrie has no desire to fulfill her obligations under our contract and work together.

Even Donald Trump, the real estate mogul who co-owns the Miss USA organization and saved Prejean from losing her crown last month, could not do anything this time to help her.

I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so, Trump said in the statement. Unfortunately it just doesn't look like it is going to happen and I offered Keith my full support in making this decision. Carrie is a beautiful young woman and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests.

First runner-up Tami Ferrell will assume the role of Miss California, the organization said.

Last month, Trump stood by the beauty queen, who ignited a fire storm of scrutiny when she spoke out against opposite marriage at the 2009 Miss USA pageant when judge Perez Hilton asked her what her opinion was on gay marriage. Later, semi-nude photos of her appeared on the Internet which led her further into controversy.

According to a Fox News source, Prejean plans to write a book and pursue other opportunities.
