Lacking hard evidence, the Casey Anthony trial comes down to the credibility of all the parties involved and to who's lying and who isn't.

Defense attorney Jose Baez admitted that Casey Anthony is a liar who made up her non-existent job at Universal Studios, her daughter Caylee's non-existent babysitter, and Caylee's fictitious kidnapping. However, she didn't lie about her innocence in her daugther's death.

Baez said her actions after Caylee's death doesn't indicate murder. Instead, Caylee drowned in the family pool and Casey cover it up because that's what she's been taught to do her whole life since her alleged sexual abuse at the hands of her father.

People who are victims of sexual abuse often grow up to be promiscuous and have issues about the boundaries of sexual activity... lying... compartmentalizing... all of these issues were testified to and all of them are consistent with those who have been sexually abused, said Baez, reported ABC news.

He also attacked the motives of the prosecution.

He said they gave...two weeks of testimony that was completely irrelevant that only painted Casey
Anthony as a slut, as a party girl, as a girl who lies.

He called them a checkbook prosecution who pulled out all stops - including spending top dollars and going to the finest crime labs in the country - all to win a high profile case.

This is not about the search for truth, said Baez.

He asserted that the prosecution had no hard evidence - no DNA, no fingerprints, no eyewitnesses - and that the death odor in Casey Anthony's car was smelled by some but not smelled by others.

Baez, however, doesn't have any evidence either. He claimed that Casey Anthony was abused by her father George Anthony and her brother Lee Anthony. But there was absolutely no evidence to substantial these claims and even evidence to the contrary.

It was so baseless that the judge banned Baez from mentioning these unfounded allegations in his closing arguments.

The one thing the prosecution can prove is that Casey Anthony has a history of lying. Covering up the murder of her daughter, they say, was just one more lie for this serial liar.

Casey Anthony decided on June 16 that something had to be sacrificed, that the conflict between the life that she wanted and the life that was thrust upon her was simply irreconcilable and something had to give... She took her child, she took her life and she put her in the trunk and forgot about her. After a couple of days, she couldn't forget anymore and she disposed of her body in a swamp, said the prosecution in its closing.

If Case Anthony is convicted of killing her daughter, she faces the death penalty.
