Profile

Robert Salomon is an Associate Professor at New York University's Stern School of Business. Prior to joining Stern, he was on the faculty of the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.

Professor Salomon's research centers on the management and economics of international expansion. He studies how and why firms enter foreign markets, how firms manage the cross-border technology transfer process, and how international expansion impacts firm performance.

Professor Salomon's research papers have been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Management Science, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Organization and Environment, Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings, and in academic books entitled Cooperative Strategies and Alliances (Elsevier Science, 2002) and A New Generation in International Strategic Management (Edward Elgar, 2007). Robert recently published his first book, Learning from Exporting: New Insights, New Perspectives (Edward Elgar, 2007).

Professor Salomon's academic accomplishments include several noteworthy distinctions including the Newman Prize; Richman Award; Haynes Best Paper Prize; IABS Best Article Award; INFORMS Dissertation Competition (Runner-up); Richard N. Farmer Award (Finalist); Gunnar Hedlund Medal (Finalist); and various nominations for the Academy of Management Best Paper Award (2002, 2003, and 2008).

Professor Salomon teaches Business Strategy, Corporate Strategy, and International Strategy at the undergraduate, MBA, and executive levels. He has received commendations for "Excellence in Teaching" at both New York University and the University of Southern California.

Professor Salomon holds a B.B.A. in Finance, magna cum laude, from the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. He earned his Masters and Ph.D. degrees in International Business Strategy from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
