CBRL Group, Inc. shares were down significantly on Tuesday after it reported poor March sales due to bad winter weather at its Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurants and gift shops.

Shares of CBRL were down $2.28, or 4.53 percent, to $48.06 in late afternoon trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market.

The Lebanon, Tenn.-based firm said comparable store restaurant sales in the four week period ending March 23 were down 1.0 percent from the comparable period last year, with the average check increasing 1.4 percent, including 1.5 percent higher average menu pricing. Comparable store retail sales were down 0.3 percent.

Cracker Barrel operates 556 restaurants and gift shops in 41 states.
