Cee Lo Green: 'Forget You' Singer to Publish Book, Said He’s ‘Meant to Be’

The untitled book will be published by Grand Central Publishing and is scheduled for a 2013 release.

The artist, born Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, got his start in music in his Georgia church. His father died when he was two years old. His mother died when he was 18. 

He has become known for his flexible musical style.

One of his biggest hits is an expletive-filled song with the edited title Forget You. He adapted the song in 2011 to Thank You, which paid tribute to firefighters. His mother was a volunteer firefighter.

He's also known for his eccentric personality.

He dresses in sequined capes, performs with the Muppets and Madonna, and does 360° flips with a grand piano at his fingertips, said Beth de Guzman, vice president and editor-in-chief of Paperbacks at Grand Central Publishing. Imagine all that outrageously unique and creative talent channeled into a book.

The memoir will be co-written by David Wild, a contributing editor to Rolling Stone magazine.

Cee Lo Green recently described himself in an interview with Esquire magazine.

I'm alternative to any other kind of pop song or pop artist that I've ever seen, he said. I am the one and only Cee Lo Green! It's about taking chances. I'm all about taking chances. You have to ask yourself, if you're not taking any chances, are you actually even living? Every time you walk out of your door and you're out in the world, you take a chance on not coming back. That is the danger and the dynamic of being alive.
