CES 2013: Kingston Debuts DataTraveler HyperX Predator, Offers 1TB On A Single Flash Drive

Even if tech giants no longer consider CES to unveil their best consumer gadgets, many companies still jump at the opportunity to impress the massive Las Vegas crowds. Fountain Valley, Calif.-based Kingston Technology belongs in that latter category.

Kingston will soon begin selling its tiny flash drives with a whopping 1 TB of internal storage.

At this year's Consumer Electronics Show, Kingston unveiled its DataTraveler HyperX Predator Flash Drive, which boasts an incredible 1 terabyte of storage.

Yes, you read that correctly. One terabyte. 1,024 gigabytes. All in a single flash drive, roughly the size of your thumb.

Last year, Kingston debuted two HyperX flash drives, which could store 64 GB and 256 GB respectively. But this brand-new Kingston HyperX flash drive, which quadruples last year's top-end model, totally lives up to its predator name.

At roughly 3 inches long, an inch wide and half an inch deep, Kingston's new HyperX Predator is a bit shorter than last year's 64GB HyperX DataTraveler, but a big thicker. But more impressively, the HyperX Predator is a speed demon, reading files at 240 MB/s and writing them at 160 MB/s.

Kingston will be launching a 512GB Predator model at launch, and it's bigger and more impressive 1TB counterpart will debut later in Q1. Kingston has yet to announce official pricing for these flash drives.
