Recent photos of convicted mass murderer Charles Manson have been released by the California Department of Corrections. Manson, 77, has a parole hearing next week, having been denied parole 11 times since 1978.

Manson is currently at Corcoran State Prison. The murderer's last parole hearing was in 2007.According to a press release from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the Board of Parole Hearings believed that in 2007, Manson, who was 72-years-old at the time continues to pose an unreasonable danger to others and may still bring harm to anyone he would come in contact with.

In 2009, a prosecutor in Manson's parole hearing told CNN that the killer had a laundry list of violations in prison. Some of his violations include, threatening a peace officer, weapon possession and possession of a contraband cell phone.

The latest photos of Manson show him with long gray hair, a long beard and mustache, with his swastika tattoo lightly faded from time. He looks a lot different, says Terry Thornton, department of corrections spokeswoman. Having his last photo taken three years ago, the change in appearance is what prompted the new photo of the inmate.

In August 1969, Manson went on a crime spree in Los Angeles county. On August 9, Manson sent his family to the home that actress Sharon Tate was renting. Tate was eight months pregnant at the time when she and four others were murdered there. The next day, Manson's crew killed two more. He was convicted of seven counts of first degree murder.

Originally sentenced to death, Manson and 107 other inmates were sentenced to life in prison with possibility of parole, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said in a press release.

Charles Manson's parole hearing is scheduled for April 11. The last parole hearing that Manson appeared at was 15 years ago. Manson may choose again to not attend.
