Chelsea Football Club are closing in on a deal to sign Sao Paulo wiz-kid Lucas Piazon when he turns 18.

The new Kaka as he has been dubbed in certain quarters, the 17-year-old Piazon will sign for the English side after they beat off competition from Italian side Juventus.

Two months back, it looked like he would sign for Juve after he underwent a week's training session at the club. However, Sao Paulo have agreed to sell him to Chelsea, with reports suggesting a fee of something between 5 million to £8 million.

Piazon is an attacking midfielder by default, but can also play the role of a striker. He was a regular in the Sao Paulo youth side, but has burst into the main team after the turn of the year. He is currently playing for Brazil in the South American Under-17 Championship.

He also helped Brazil secure runners-up spot in the South American Under-15 Football Championships in Bolivia, 2009 in which his ten goals made his the top scorer of the tournament.
