Chelsea Handler might be dating a father, but she has no aspirations of becoming a parent.

In an appearance on “The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet,” the typically snarky talk show host opened about her love life and her aversion to starting a family. Handler admitted that she likes being able to focus her energy on her career and doesn’t think she’d be a great parent. That formula seems to be working well so far for the comedienne, as she's reportedly worth an estimated $25 million.

''I definitely don't want to have kids. I don't think I'd be a great mother,” Handler, 38, said, before adding that time is a chief concern. “I don't want to have a kid and have it raised by a nanny. I don't have the time to raise a child.”

Handler, who is one of five children, also added that her reluctance to be a mom was partly due to her rough experiences growing up. ''Childhood was heartbreaking enough for anybody. I don't know that I could handle my own child, especially if I had a girl, going through what I went through growing up. Not that it was so traumatic, but in many ways, it was in your own way,” Handler said.

But while Handler may not want children of her own, she seems happy to play stepmom to the two grown daughters, Alessandra, 23, and Isabel, 19, of her on/off boyfriend, hotelier billionaire Andre Balazs, 56.

When Handler celebrated a birthday in February, Alessandra uploaded a picture of the couple, with the caption, “"Happy early birthday, stepmonster.”

Handler also added in an interview with Piers Morgan in 2011 that she’s had to amend her behavior a little around Balazs’ daughters. “I've learned to respect somebody else's privacy," she said. "It's not about me, because obviously I would like to make fun of him as much as possible, but he has kids, so I have to be nice." ''We had some troubles in the beginning because we were both fighting who the other person was,” Handler said of her rocky relationship with Balazs. “Everything you like about somebody you end up detesting about them. ... Finally, we both calmed down and then we were able to come together in a much different way. But I'm grateful to be in an adult relationship because I always figured, 'Oh, I'll just have sex with a bunch of guys and have my career.'''

"My boyfriend is as busy as I am, so we both make time. I think if you want to be in a relationship with someone, you both make it happen, and we do," she added, referring to their bicoastal relationship. "We're fortunate enough to be able to have the wherewithal and the resources to kind of meet each other all over the place." "It's always fun. It's always exciting," Handler said. "He's very romantic. He's very good for me and I'm very good for him. He's pretentious and I'm not, so I take him down a notch and he brings me up a notch."
