Chelsea Handler is returning to the small screen. Wednesday, the comedian shared an Instagram post, revealing some interesting facts about her forthcoming Netflix talk show, including when fans can tune in for the series premiere.
Here’s everything you need to know about Handler’s newest project:
1. When Will Handler’s Talk Show Premiere?
Handler’s untitled series will hit the small screen — and any other Netflix-enabled device — Wednesday, May 11.
2. How Many Days a Week Can I Catch the Series?
The reason why Handler’s new series is premiering on a Wednesday (while Netflix shows typically get released on Fridays) is because there will be a new episode of the 30-minute show three times a week.
“This is your new schedule, so if you’re thinking about having a baby — don’t!” Handler quipped in a handwritten letter to herself via Instagram. “Your new show will be on every Wednesday, Thursday & Friday on Netflix.”
3. How Did Handler Get a Talk Show on Netflix?
In 2014, Handler, who acted as an E network talk show host for eight years, teamed up with Netflix for a new adventure. The streaming-video service provided Handler a fresh platform to reach audiences by giving her a talk show. It also signed Handler for a four-part docuseries, which premiered in January.
4. What Will the Show Be About?
Handler dished to Entertainment Weekly she’s going to keep the “format loose” so that her audiences are kept on their toes every night.
“It’s not going to be the same thing every night,” Handler said, adding that she’s going to “implement a lot of the stuff from the doscuseries” in the talk show. “There will be a studio portion, too.”
Handler elaborated in her handwritten letter that fans can anticipate that she will continue traveling the world, which played a vital part in the docuseries.
“You’ll be traveling around the world and learning new things all courtesy of Netflix,” Handler said. “Treat this as an opportunity to get the college education you forgot to get.”
5. Who Will Be on Handler’s Show?
Although Handler teased that her “dream guest list” would include the pope, Michelle Obama and Arnold Schwarzanegger’s maid, don’t expect too many red carpet stars to appear on the series. The New Jersey native previously revealed that one reason she’s excited to team up with Netflix is that it’s given her the freedom to talk with whomever she wants and discuss topics that pique her interest.
“I’m no longer on a network that just wants you to talk about celebrities, so I don’t have to talk about celebrities,” she told Entertainment Weekly.
6. When Will We Find Out the Name of the Talk Show?
Handler employed Twitter to request that her fans help her come up with a name for the series. Some potential titles included “Can You Handler This?” and “Conversations with Chelsea.” However, the official name will be revealed at a live press conference Thursday. Stay tuned.
