Chelsea Handler just announced the cancellation of her Netflix show, “Chelsea,” after only two seasons.

On her Twitter account, the host, actress and comedian explained why she decided to no longer pursue the series for a third season. Some of Handler’s reasons included her desire to educate more people on how to become engaged citizens.

She also said that even though “Chelsea” will no longer return to the popular streaming site, her partnership with Netflix will continue. She revealed that they are working on a documentary that will feature people from all walks of life. The writer also said that episodes of her series will continue to air on Netflix until December.

“Netflix could not be more understanding, and I’m grateful for their continued support,” she concluded.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “Chelsea” premiered on Netflix in May 2016. At that time, three episodes of the talk show with 30 minutes each were released by the streaming site every week. But for its second season, only one one-hour episode per week is being released.

Earlier this year, Netflix announced their decision to release hour-long episodes of “Chelsea” weekly. They explained (via USA Today) that the new schedule and format for the show is expected to feature more of Handler’s dinner parties and field pieces. The new format will also showcase more in-depth interviews with the host’s guests.

Handler brought her knowledge and expertise about various topics to her comedic talk show, “Chelsea.” After traveling in and out of the country, she returned to Sony Pictures to tape episodes of the show in front of live audiences. Every week, Handler invites dignitaries, celebrities and surprise guests to talk about various topics such as health, education, parenting, sports and more.

In Season 2, Handler traveled to India, Europe, Montana and Washington D.C. In July, it was announced by Netflix that “Chelsea” has been renewed for an additional 90 episodes, but it was later cut down to just 30.

The streaming site does not normally disclose their ratings, but USA Today claimed that “Chelsea” was off to a rocky start after they parted ways with executive producer Bill Wolff after one month.
