A Connecticut woman has been charged with murder after she allegedly killed her former lover with her car.

Cherelle Baldwin, 21, of Bridgeport, Conn., was arrested Monday and charged with the murder of Jeffrey Brown, 24, after she allegedly plowed into Brown with a red Pontiac G6, crushing him to death against a garage's cinder-block wall, police told reporters. Brown died of blunt force trauma injuries.

A local Connecticut news outlet reported that accident reconstruction specialists from the Trumbell Police Department, with the help of Bridgeport detectives, determined that the Pontiac Baldwin was driving traveled about 100 feet, accelerating the entire time before plowing into Baldwin.

"There was a significant impact when he was struck," William Kaempffer, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department, told CtPost. "The vehicle pushed in the cinder-block wall more than 10 inches."

Baldwin is being held on $1 million bond.

Kaempffer told reporters that Bridgeport police had come to Baldwin's Ash Street residence for previous domestic violence complaints concerning the couple.
