NBC’s “Chicago Fire” aired a suspense-driven Season 2 episode this week in which Dr. Will Halstead was sorely tested. During a marathon, the doctor saw no choice but to operate on a severely injured patient on the field. Next week, the medical drama will shift its focus to Dr. Sarah Reese who will have a difficult case on her hands.

In Season 2, episode 6, titled “Alternative Medicine,” Reese gets contacted by a young boy named Danny (Nick Marini), the same boy who was found to be a victim of a sex trafficking ring in episode 4. Obviously Danny wants to get out of situation, so Reese (Rachel DiPillo) turns to her mentor Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) for help and enlists Detective Erin Lindsay’s (Sophia Bush) assistance in helping her patient.

However, the promo suggests that Charles isn’t happy with Danny meeting Reese outside the hospital. The boy is afraid to meet her in a public place for fear of getting caught by his boss. Later, Reese’s mentor tells her that she’s treading a dangerous path and needs to step away now.

While Reese and Charles deal with a sex trafficking ring, Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) tends to a young cancer patient. The official synopsis of Season 2, episode 6 states that the surgeon will struggle to inform her parents about her dire condition.

Elsewhere in the hospital, Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) and Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) will try to clear the logjam in the hospital.

Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) will fine-tune his instincts after both Dr. Latham (Ato Assandoh) and Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) pick up on things he doesn’t.

The episode will also see Manning and Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) get impressed with two teenaged nerd’s bio-engineering lab.

“Chicago Med” Season 2, episode 6 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
