The Chicago Purchasing Managers index climbed in September to 60.4; better than the prior estimate of 56.5 while markets expected the index to ease to 55.0.

Zooming through the PMI report, we can see prices paid fell to 62.3 from 68.6 and Production increased to 63.9 from 57.8 report back in August, new orders increased to 65.3 from 56.9 and inventories increased to 60.3 from 52.9 while employment rose in September to 60.6 from 52.1.
