Pakistan will get 50 multi-role combat jets from the Chinese government, reports said.

China will hand over 50 JF-17 Thunder fighter planes in a few weeks, a Chinese official revealed in Beijing where Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is on a four-day official trip.

The official said Pakistan and China were mutually producing the JF-17 fighter jets and they have advanced expertise in avionics.

The jets would be wholly funded by the Chinese government which will help strengthen Pakistan’s defense and add to the strategic capacity of the Pakistani Air Force, he said.
