RTTNews - China's GDP grew 7.9% year-on-year in the second quarter, faster than a 6.1% rise in the first quarter, the National Bureau of Statistics said Thursday. Economists expected a growth of 7.8%.

During the quarter, the value added of the primary sector grew 3.8%, while it was up 6.6% for the secondary sector. Tertiary sector value addition increased 8.3%.

For the first half of the year, the GDP grew 7.1% compared to the same period last year.
